The children were sleeping at the crib, while I was strapped with an infant on my back. Ha! We were getting close to being done, yet the project was still a way off. In order to furnish the house it would take a lot of effort with regards to time and money. It was also going to be a challenge to go out and shop for my most-loved items. To stay the cost within my means, I took my boys along to search for hidden treasures at estate sales. We had a weekly schedule which consisted of spending the week from the week of Thursday to Saturday scouring estate sales and garage sales shopping for new and used objects. I spent the rest of the week working on painting and sanding the driveway. The furniture looked like this... and that's where I found my love to restore. After our home was finished, I didn't want to stop! I had a stand at the local market and also sold items there. In the end, I had numerous pieces that I did not think of a solution and I outgrew my space. There were open houses in my home that saw more than 1 000 visitors would come through in one weekend, and purchase whatever they saw in the first floor. Growing Days was created in this home. My business was booming however my family was also growing. The balance between work and family was crucial to me. I wanted to be both a mom and a successful business owner. Growing Days fit perfectly. Nora my 4th child was born in the year 2013. I loved where my business was taking me, but I felt like I needed to take a breather. I decided to step back and stay in my home with my children. It was exactly what I needed. After a few minutes I began to hear my phone ringing. I started receiving messages from individuals asking to help with their home improvement as well as interior design. These people had mostly been to my home during open houses for furniture. I started taking on some customers one by one taking my time but it wasn't too for long to have numerous accounts and had the complete business of home remodeling. Most likely, I would have been laughing if someone had told me the company was to become part of a forthcoming tv program in the DIY Network. Actually, I smile a little when I remember the episode.
